Oyinlola's Suspension: PDP Is Lawless, Amaechi Attacks Party
Following the suspension of
former National Secretary, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola by the People's
Democratic Party, PDP, Gov. Amaechi has described the party as lawless.
The
governor who spoke through his Chief of staff, Chief Tony Okocha said
the refusal by the PDP to allow the reinstatement of Oyinlola an order
by an Appeal Court judgement was tantamount to circumvention of judicial
process, adding that the suspension of Oyinlola and others was
unnecessary since the Court of Appeal had recognised him (Oyinlola) as
the National Secretary of the PDP.
Amaechi
said, “The suspension is a deliberate ploy to circumvent the Court of
Appeal judgement, which recognised Oyinlola as the National Secretary of
PDP.
“This is typical of PDP. Hope
that the judiciary has an antidote to this affront on the court. What
the PDP is doing is to foreclose the possibility of any reconciliation.
“The
PDP is portraying itself as lawless. If the people know your style and
you continue in that style without
changing, it then becomes
unfortunate. We envisaged that the PDP would come to this and it did.He however expressed optimism that the judiciary would uphold justice in the party and also urged Oyinlola and other suspended members to be resolute, imploring them not to worry about the recent development.
He
said, “My advice to Prince Oyinlola and others is that they should
remain resolute and not be worried about the suspension. The truth is
that Nigerians and even the judiciary are watching the party’s disregard
for the rule of law.”
The governor added that Nigerians and even the judiciary were watching the PDP and its lack of regard for the rule of law.
