An intestinal problem has forced President Jonathan to cancel
a planned surprise visit to the Super Eagles in South Africa, medical
sources in London said today.
The Nigeria president, who
is on a whirlwind three-nation trip to Egypt, the United Kingdom and
France, had planned to surprise the Super Eagles in South Africa
following their qualification for the final of the African Cup of
Nations last Wednesday.
However, in London Mr. Jonathan came down
with an intestinal disorder referred to as Amoebic Colitis and he
underwent testing at the London Clinic on Harley Street. The clinic is
highly favoured by Nigeria’s rich and powerful.
A medical source
told Saharareporters that Mr. Jonathan's situation is not worrisome but
that the persistent nature of the condition meant the president had to
undergo some screenings. It was not clear why he did not undertake the
screenings in Abuja, where State House has an excellent clinic manned by
a largely idle staff.

The Ivorian commentator, one of the most popular penalist

There is danger on the Niger Bridge, which links Onitsha, the commercial
nerve centre of Anambra State and Asaba, the Delta State capital. Owing
to wears and tears, the bridge is on the verge of collapse.
Indeed,
if Niger Bridge were human, her uncontrollable cries, wailing and
weeping could have reached the high heaven. This is because, at 48, the
bridge has been constantly over-used and stretched beyond its limit and
capacity without properly taken care of. Each time a vehicle, especially
heavy duty truck, passes the bridge, figuratively, cringes and makes a
cranky noise to demonstrate its anguish, pains and sorrow.
The
evidence of the bad state of the Niger Bridge manifested during the last
Christmas, as South easterners and South southerners travelled home.
Commuters, from both ends of the bridge, spent more time crossing over
than before. Most of them spent about six hours on the queue, waiting
to cross the bridge. To cross the

Sunday’s
Africa Cup of Nations final match between Nigeria and Burkina Faso will
be played on semi artificial grass at the National Stadium, otherwise
known as Soccer City.
Constructed for the 2010 World Cup, the 94,736 capacity stadium has
recently undergone some renovation to the playing surface in order to
make it able to host other activities like music concerts and other
non-sport events.
“We decided to rip out the pitch in the middle of December last year

conforms to Fifa regulations. I still believe it’s one of the better
pitches in the country at the moment.”
Last weekend, United States band Red Hot Chilli Peppers performed on the pitch.
As the super eagles file out on Sunday to claim the afcon 2013 final
match against a very resilient Burkina Faso team, a lot of close soccer
analysts have been puzzled with the way an unimpresive eagles at the
group stage of the competition suddenly transformed into a delight to
watch at the knock out stage of the same competition. A Ghanian friend
asked me a question online immediately after the semi final tramping of
the Malians and his question was 'how and when did Nigeria learn to play
such good football?, tho he still boasted that the black stars would
"clip the eagles wing in the final match" (typical Ghanian arrogance)
not knowing Burkina Faso would deal with them later that night even with
all the referee s abrakadabra.
Having watched the super

been highly tactical (read Johan Cruyff's comment about the eagles
after the 1- 1 draw against his Catalona tutored side.) A lot of us
have been so distracted to realize that the eagles have not lost a

A real-life vampire is addicted to drinking human blood according to doctors. On Feb. 8, NBC News
reported that a 23-year-old married man living in Turkey is actually a
vampire -- or at least, he appears to be. His addiction to blood is
actually as essential as breathing.
"The man was arrested several times after stabbing and biting others
to collect and drink their blood. He apparently even got his father to
get him bags of the ghastly drink from blood banks," NBC News reported. Strange things have also happened in his life that suggest that he's more than just some run of the mill "freak."
The real-life vampire isn't only addicted to blood. He also has
showcased multiple personalities. "The man had been seen talking to
himself, and he claimed to be tormented by an 'imaginary companion' who
forced him to carry out violent acts and attempt suicide. He also had
memory gaps in his daily life and reported instances of being in a new
place without any idea of how he got there," reads the report.
Before becoming crazy -- or vampire-like -- the young man went
through some traumatic events. His daughter died at just 4-months-old
after falling ill... he saw his uncle get murdered... and he witnessed

MUMBAI (AFP) – A teenaged boy axed his father to death in India after
learning that he was to marry for a fifth time, reports said Friday.
The 62-year-old was attacked by his 15-year-old son on Tuesday at his
home in Palghar town, about 120 kilometres (75 miles) north of Mumbai,
senior police inspector A.J. Sindkar told the Press Trust of India news

The trial of the suspects in
connection with the murder of Facebook girl, Cynthia Osokogu began in
Lagos today with the state calling Mrs Ifeyinwa Njegbu, a receptionist
at Cosmilla Hotel, where Cynthia’s body was found, stone dead.
In
her testimony, Ifeyinwa told the court that while on duty on 21 July,
2012, she checked in two guests, a man and a woman who claimed to be a
couple into Room C1 of the hotel at about 12 noon.
She noted that
at about 8 a.m the next day, while she was preparing to hand over to one
of her colleagues, Vivian Amule, the couple informed her through phone
that they were checking out.
“After I had handed over to my
colleague, I asked her to check out the couple since they had told me
that they were leaving that morning”
Njegbu noted that when she
resumed duty the next day,she was briefed that the couple had left but
that a brother of the man had taken over the room since the payment made
on the room will not expire until 12pm.
She told the court that
the new occupant of the room told her through intercom that he would be
staying behind but that she should permit him to get money from the ATM
machine to pay for the day.

PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (AP) — A mob stripped, tortured and

hundreds of witnesses in a Papua New Guinea town, police said Friday
after one of the highest profile sorcery-related murders in this South

retaliations have become increasingly violent in recent years.
The death was the first sorcery-related murder in Papua New Guinea in a year, national police spokesman Dominic Kakas said.
Kepari Leniata, a 20-year-old mother, had been accused of sorcery by

This is the story of a young boy whose parents were murdered during 2002 riots in Kaduna.
He was aged 11 yrs at the time this sad incident took place. His parents, Mr Austine and Mrs Josephine Moses, were missionaries until they met their untimely death, what a sad end. The boy left his house to play football but returned home to see that all his parents had laboured for had been razed down and he would never see his mother and father again.
He was taken to London by his Uncle almost immediately after the incident. While in London, he began deploying his football skills. Though his parents were murdered, his passion for football was never killed.
He played football for his school and later for a local Tandrige League club until Crystal Palace FC approached him. From that point, his career progressed in leaps and bounds.
Former FCT minister Mallam El-Rufai wrote a memoir titled The Accidental Public Servant which was unveiled in Abuja today, and in the book he criticized a few politicians...one of them former

Public Enterprises (BPE) because of persistent pressure and
interference by Atiku, who was then the
Chairman of the National Council on Privatization

say the least not surprising considering that this is the same man who
has notoriety for disparaging religions and their icons, including

but the rapper said there was more. Now he's claiming that he had
unprotected sex with Coco. Below is what he told Star magazine.
“I first met Coco at Surrender Nightclub. She invited me to her table; I
had a couple of drinks; we exchanged numbers. I could tell we had a
physical attraction. She asked me, ‘What are you doing after the club?’ I
said, ‘I’m probably just going to get a room and stay right here.’ She
said, ‘Well, I’m going with you.’
We had sex. I don’t know who made the first move. It wasn’t making love;
it was just sex. We
