Khloe Kardashian put on a brave face for the camera on Friday, Aug. 30, just hours after news broke that her husband, Lamar Odom, had been arrested earlier in the day for driving under the influence. Posing with friends in a photo she shared on Instagram, the 29-year-old reality star stared sultrily -- or perhaps sadly -- into the lens.
"Omg you can totally not sit with us," she captioned the picture, which also featured her hair and makeup team (Joyce Bonelli, Jen Atkin, and Rob Scheppy).
It was her second such selfie this week; on Aug. 28, amid news of her
husband's substance-abuse issues, she shared a solo shot of herself
looking somber (but still beautiful).
Aside from the photos, however -- and one tweet about people "talking s--t about her family" -- the Keeping Up With the Kardashians
star has remained relatively quiet on social media in recent days. She

Barely one week after a teenage boy, Daniel Ohikena caused a scare at
the Murtala Mohammed Airport, MMA, Lagos when he stowed on an Arik Air
plane from Benin to Lagos, another scare occurred yesterday at the same
airport when a female passenger, whose identity could not be ascertained
as at the time of filing this report, was said to have boarded the
plane screamed on top of her voice that she was no longer willing to
travel with the plane after boarding the flight.
According to Saturday Mirror investigations, the cabin crew and
passengers initially ignored her. But her persistence led to suspicion
among the passengers.
The strange behaviour, led to the delay of the Benin-bound aircraft
for two hours, as all the passengers were disembarked while the plane
was screened again. All the checked-in luggage was also offloaded for
proper screening by both Aero and Aviation Security of the Federal
Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN.

The national
leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party is unsettled over the
emergence of two candidates for the governorship election coming up in

Saturday
PUNCH gathered that the party’s national leaders were battling to
resolve the crisis that was caused by parallel governorship primaries in

A member of the National Executive Committee, who

governorship candidates from the two parallel congresses in the party
had been a sore point in the party’s preparation for the governorship

He referred to the emergence of two governorship
candidates of the PDP for the same election in the state, Senator Andy

About six months ago, I was watching a lot of Apple ads on YouTube and
heard something that has never left me. You should watch the YouTube
video, it’s truly inspiring. Here’s what I heard:
“Here’s to the
crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs
in square holes, the ones who see things differently, they are not fond
of rules and have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them but the only thing you can’t do, is ignore them because they change things.
They
push the human race forward and while some may see them as the crazy
ones, we see genius because the people, who are crazy enough to think
they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

After spending several weeks at the intensive care unit of a South African hospital, Nelson Mandela the Papa Africa, has finally returned home to his big family. What a relief!
Last week, his condition was described by the federal government as

Contrary to the expectations of President Goodluck Jonathan and his
aides who have been accusing Speaker of the House of Reps, Aminu
Tambuwa, of associating with their "enemies", Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on
Friday took a different stand. He said he is happy and very proud of
the way Speaker Tambuwal has been leading the House of Representatives.
In what some say is an open endorsement for Tambuwal's future ambition, Obasanjo said:
“I like you, in fact I love you, please go ahead with what you are doing at the National Assembly. I am behind you. I am a principled person and I like the way you run the affairs of the House of Representatives.”
Obasanjo stated this in Sokoto on Friday at a ceremony to lay the foundation of phase 2 of the Usman
People get married for different
reasons. While some seek companionship in marriage, many go into
marriage for procreation. For couples who look forward to having
children immediately after marriage, being declared ‘infertile’ by
experts is like a death sentence.
While it is generally agreed that it
takes two to have a baby and every couple is expected to be in optimum
health to have babies, medical experts claim men are having more
fertility challenge now. Sperm concentration in men is said to have
decreased by a third since 1990s while sperm count is said to have
decreased by half over the past 50 years.
Studies are also showing genetic
abnormalities in sperm particularly in older men. For men therefore,
quantity, quality and motility of spermatozoa are seen as important
factors in fertility.
Since the male factor is a prominent
cause of infertility in couples, sperm donation has become vital in
assisted conception treatment.
A study by the Society for the Study of
Male Reproduction stated that “a male factor is solely responsible in

National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed
The All Progressives Congress has said that its presidential candidates will emerge through transparent primaries.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed,
who stated this in a telephone interview with one of our
correspondents, said the party would neither give preference to any zone
nor fix positions for candidates from any part of the country for the
2015 general elections.
Mohammed was reacting to a report that the APC had zoned the
presidency to the North and the vice-presidency to the South-East. The
report had said that the party zoned the vice-presidency to the
South-East to break the stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party in
the area.
But the APC spokesman said, “There is no zoning in our constitution.
Our presidential candidate will emerge through a transparent process.
Nigerians are interested in how our presidential candidate will emerge.
We won’t disappoint them.”
He also explained that in choosing its presidential candidate, the party would abide by Nigeria’s constitution.
Nigerians woke up on Sunday 25 August, 2013 to learn of a stowaway
teenage boy, Daniel Ohikhena, who flew with Arik’s flight W3 544 from
Benin to Lagos, thinking the plane was US-bound! Daniel, probably, had
fantasised of life in far away America, watched films where some movie
stars in a feign show of bravado, stowaway precariously on fast moving
cars and aircrafts, chose to be the hero in reality, difficult to tell
if he was oblivious of the risk his bluster involved, how far a flight
from Benin to US was, or how he planned to survive extreme weather
conditions.
Only the intrepid adolescent had the answers to these questions. As mother luck would have it, the flight was Lagos-bound.
In other climes, where security breaches – in the face of increasing
global terror attacks – are not treated with kid gloves, heads will roll
in the aviation sector. The laxity of airport officials underscores the

Lamar Odom was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) early Friday morning in California, TMZ is reporting.
The NBA player was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol on a
freeway in the San Fernando Valley for driving too slowly at 3:54 a.m.
on Aug. 30, according to TMZ.
CHP officials told the Los Angeles Times that Odom was spotted early
Friday morning driving a white Mercedes SUV in a "serpentine manner"
around 50 mph. Authorities attempted to pull him over, but he kept
driving. When they eventually stopped him, Odom showed "objective signs
of intoxication and was unable to perform field sobriety tests as

Odom was arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to jail in Van Nuys. He refused all chemical tests, the Los Angeles Times reported.
TMZ reports he is currently being held on $15,000 bail. CBSLA notes it is unclear if he has posted bond.
WASHINGTON -- Secretary of State John Kerry said Friday that there
was "no doubt" the Syrian regime used chemical weapons in a devastating
attack last week that killed more than 1,400 people, pointing to a newly
released White House intelligence report that leaves unresolved whether
President Bashar Assad himself ordered the attack.
Kerry's speech made clear that the United States was preparing for
strikes on Assad's government, even as the United Kingdom declined to
join in the military effort.
"Its findings are as clear as they are compelling," Kerry said of the report. "I'm not asking you to take my word for it, read for yourself."
But while the report assessed with "high confidence" that the Syrian
government had used a nerve agent in the Aug. 21 attack, which U.S.
intelligence believes killed at least 1,429 people including 426
children, it stopped short of conclusively demonstrating that Syrian
President Bashar Assad himself, as opposed to a

Here's what Ruggedman told Vanguard about his love life.
You seem not to be the romantic type?
Says who? I am very romantic when I’m with the right woman. Just like
love and marriage, romance isn’t something I throw around.
I remember one St. Valentine’s day. I went to see my Val but I didn’t meet her at home. I tied a rose
(a real one not plastic) to her door and wrote my initials on a paper.
When she returned and saw it, she knew I was the one who put it there.
The incident that made me put my romance in check happened years ago too on another St. Valentine’s day.
I bought loads of gifts and fifteen cards because I don’t like getting
just one. I even booked an hotel room for dinner and all. All she did
was say “you shouldn’t have done all these!” She didn’t even bring me a
card.

According to Vanguard's report, the girl’s mother had gone to Sapele yam

The incident occurred at about 7.00pm, Wednesday.
The whole building was brought to ruins as neighbours could not put out the fire while men of Sapele Fire Fighting Service arrived late.
It was reported that the grand-father of the infant who was alerted of
the incident was later involved in salvaging other parts of the building
without knowing that his grand child had been consumed by the fire.
My husband and I
