President Jonathan Set To Meet With Governor Amaechi Secretly

President Goodluck Jonathan is set to meet with the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi as it becomes clear that Amaechi and all the sitting Local Government Chairman in the state have all it takes to make sure Jonathan loses majority votes to APC in 2015.

A top insider at a meeting Jonathan had with PDP governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Tuesday night, disclosed that the President was pressed to removed Mbu as a way of begging Amaechi indirectly.
"The President, at the meeting, was made to know that there is crisis in the party and that we need to work harder if we are dreaming of winning the 2015 elections.
"It was difficult for us to convince the President about the need to transfer Mbu. He felt it was not right doing so, saying it could also confirm some people’s belief that he does not stand by those who work for him [against his political opponents]."
Going by the tune of the meeting, the source told Punch that Jonathan might initiate a meeting with Amaechi.

The source, who is close to the President, disclosed that Jonathan was asked to make peace with anyone who is capable of helping him to win the 2015 presidential election, otherwise he may lose to APC.

On the removal of the controversial Rivers State Police Commissioner, Joseph Mbu, the source said they told President Jonathan that it would be wrong for him (Jonathan) to give the country the impression that just one commissioner of police is capable of working for him among the entire police force in the country.

On why Mbu was not posted to another state, the source said none of the governors agreed to accept him.

“We felt that any state he (Mbu) is posted to will have the feeling that he is coming to wreck havoc,” he said.
