Footballer Dies After Backflip Goal Celebration Goes Tragically Wrong (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

An Indian footballer has died after a backflip goal celebration went tragically wrong during a match last week in north eastern India.

Peter Biaksangzuala attempted to perform the acrobatic celebration after scoring for Bethlehem Vengthlang FC against Chanmari West FC in the 62nd minute. Biaksangzuala fell on his head badly damaging his spinal cord.

Team-mates immediately rushed to his aid and he was immediately rushed to local hospital. Unfortunately,  after five days of intensive treatment, as doctors attempted to heal his injuries, the footballer passed away on Sunday morning after being put on a ventilator.

The Mizoram Football Association’s secretary said, “This is indeed very shocking for all of us. Peter was a very talented player who dreamt of playing in the national league. His death has come as a big shock to all of us. We all thought he would recover.”

According to Peter’s teammates, he was a defensive midfielder who had always been aggressive and hard working, a true team player. Like most defensive midfielders, he was excellent at reading the game, breaking up attacks and protecting his defenders.
