Controversy now surrounds the death of one Wisdom Edu who, until
his death, was a staff of Treasureland Hotels in Calabar Municipal
Council of Cross River State, just as the tree beside the swimming pool
where his body was discovered was said to have ‘mysteriously’ withered
within 24 hours after his death.
About five persons, including the manager of the hotel, had been
quizzed by the police over the incident but
some of them were said to
have been released after making their statements.
Wisdom, as he
was popularly known, was 19 years old and a native of Adadama in Abi
Local Government Area of the state and was living at No. 4 Calabar Road,
before his death on November 9, 2012.
A family source claimed
that his corpse was discovered early morning the next day by some naval
officers who were lodged at the hotel. He was said to have deep a cut on
his head.
Mr. Icha Mbotor, a relation of the deceased, said he
received information about Wisdom’s death on Sunday morning when his
sister, Ghada Francis Ekun, called him to break the sad news and that
the corpse was deposited at Calabar General Hospital mortuary.
He
said that when he got to the State Housing Police Station where the
matter was reported, the story of Wisdom’s death was confirmed and that
the picture taken by the police showed that there was a deep cut on the
deceased’s head and his mouth was swollen.
