JTF Recovers Over 5000 Rounds Of Ammunition From Boko Haram Suspects In Damaturu
The Nigeria military outfit, Joint Task Force (JTF), claims it has recovered over 5000 rounds of ammunition and some arms from a suspected Boko Haram storage in Damaturu, Yobe State.
The recovery followed a cordon and search operation, according to Lt. Eli Lazarus, JTF’s spokesman, in a statement.
The statement said: “At about 9am Mon 26 Nov 2012, men of the Joint Task Force (JTF) on cordon and search operation in Kandahar area of Damaturu the Yobe State Capital recovered five thousand two hundred and seven (5,207) rounds of ammunition, one (1) rifle, two (2) pistols, three (3) grenades and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from a suspected Boko Haram Terrorists arm store.”
He added that the recovered items were concealed in plastic jerry cans and buried in the ground, and
reiterated the JTF appeal to residents to report any strange or suspicious person(s) in their vicinity for further action.
“Also, residents that have knowledge of any hidden arms and ammunition should report to security agents for further action. Any useful information would be rewarded accordingly."
