Late Esiri and son Dr Sid
Legendary actor Justus Esiri has died.The Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), famous for his role as the Village Headmaster in popular 80's sitcom of the same name, passed on last night. Reports say he died of low sugar in his blood. No more details yet on the cause of death, but will update soon.
Justus Esiri has featured in several Nollywood movies and is the father of Mavin artist, Dr Sid. May his soul rest in peace.
Details of the circumstances that led to his death are still sketchy as the news is only breaking. We however know that his son, pop singer Dr Sid has put up a photo of Justus Esiri on his twitter avatar and updated his bio as ‘RIP Dad‘.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria are expected to give a statement soon as the shock of Justus Esiri’s passing
resonates through the industry.
In a career that spanned decades, late Mr Esiri, shot to lime light in the 70s with his most popular role to date ‘Headmaster’ in the nationwide series ‘Village Headmaster’ which aired on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
Justus Esiri’s death comes two months after Enebeli Elebuwa died in an indian hospital and eighteen months after legendary actor Sam Loco also took his bow.
Late Mr Esiri was married to his wife Omiete and together they had six children, one of them being Dentist-turned pop artiste Dr SID.
