Lauren Marbe
A UK girl with IQ of 161 may have shaken stereotypes of blondes in Essex. Lauren Marbe is only 16, but a Mensa intelligence test she was entered in earlier this month proved that she is officially smarter than a trio of great thinkers. Bill Gates, Stephen Hawking and Albert Eienstein may have met their match by a girl who loves TOWIE, fake nails and tans. Imagine that.
According to a Feb., 12 Daily Mail report, Marbe has a penchant for trashy television and a Paris Hilton persona.
However, the self-described "ditzy" blonde is far from the likes of the hotel heir, at least in the socialite's earlier years. For one, the 16-year-old girl with an IQ of a whopping 161 nearly tops the list of the "smartest" people in the world.
Note: Olivia Manning, 12, from Liverpool scored a 162 in October of last year on an IQ test.
What began with her teacher at Roding Valley High School in Loughton enrolling her in the brain test for fun, turned out to be something akin to finding oil or gold.
Lauren's mom, Sue Marbe, 45, talked about the pressures of being an "Essex-girl" in order to fit in.
"Most of the time Essex gets a bit of a negative press. People think all girls are blonde and all girls are dim. Lauren is blonde but it does seem like she has shaken the stereotype that all Essex girls are stupid," she said.Marbe (pictured here) is interested in an architecture degree at the University of Cambridge and has dreams of one day being as celebrated as her idol, Denise Van Outen, an English actress.
According to the Telegraph, the average IQ for peers and students is 100. Lauren knew that and expected her score on the intelligence test to be about the same. She described how the suspense was as she became one of the last to receive results.
And when she did, the rest became history.
She is now a member of the high-IQ society Mensa society, which simply means Lauren is among the top smartest one percent in the world, that's with a "W."
