NBC Closes Down Wazobia FM Kano Over Polio Workers Killings
Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has closed down Wazobia FM Kano over the death of nine female health workers in the State. According to NBC, its investigation has shown that the station and its presenters displayed unprofessional judgement during one of its programme on immuinzation.
The presenter and his guest made statements which according to the commission led to the shooting of the innocent health workers by some Islamic fundamentalists. They had criticized polio vaccination, that it is an
attempt at reducing the Muslim population. The presenters were later arrested by police but have been granted bail by the court.
