Damoche’s murder: LASU deserted as school mgt, SUG, react

Students and staff of Lagos State University, LASU, have kept off from the campus following the brutal murder of a rising hip-hop artiste, Olaniyan Damilola, popularly known as Damino Damoche, at the school gate, Thursday afternoon.
Pandemonium and confusion reigned supreme yesterday after the killing of Damoche as students and others who have anything to do in the school hurriedly left the campus for fear of being hit by assailants’ bullets or being arrested by the police.
When Vanguard visited the campus today (Friday), what used to be a beehive of activities with human traffic was scanty and a shadow of itself.
Meanwhile, the school management and the students union have reacted to the murder of the student.
The university’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Dr. Sola Fosudo condemned the murder in its entirety and called on the police and other security agencies to unravel the mystery behind the heinous act and bring the perpetrators to book.
Fosudo however, condoled with the family of late musicians, assuring them that the school authority will do all within its power to assist security agents bring the killers to book.
Speaking also, a member of Students Union government, who preferred anonymous, said the students leadership has condemned the attack on one of its own and has vowed to follow the case until the perpetrators of the dastardly act were punished according to the dictates of law.
It will be recalled that Damoche was shot dead Thursday afternoon by suspected campus fraternity gangs outside the school premises.
The late hip hop star was shot twice, in the head and on the left hand, with what appeared to be a high caliber weapon. He lay dead for several hours before policemen took his body away in a pick-up van.
