INEC Has Power To De-register Political Parties, Court Rules
Nigeria’s electoral commission de-registered many political parties last year.
The Federal High Court in Lagos has ruled that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has the power to de-register political parties in Nigeria.
The suit brought by the National Conscience Party sought to challenge INEC’s power to de-register parties, after the agency de-registered 28 parties last year.
