Tragedy struck in Ede, Osun State, when a pregnant woman,
Lateefat Odediran was allegedly beaten to death by another lady,
Tawakalitu Musibau over a minor domestic issue.
The death of the pregnant woman caused tension in the community as
residents mourned the deceased and her 8-month-old unborn child in
agonized voices amid wailing and lamentation.
It was gathered that the deceased had a dispute with Tawakalitu and
this led to an argument which later degenerated into a fight that led to
the death of the pregnant woman.
Lateefat was said to have died owing to severe injuries she sustained
during the fight and the matter was reported to the police. The police
have arrested Tawakalitu and investigation has commenced on the matter.
Lateefat gave up the ghost at a private hospital 40 minutes after
which she was rushed down to private
Hospital for medical treatment.
What led to the argument between Tawakalitu and the deceased could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
Police Public Relation Officer for the Osun State Police Command, Mrs
Folasade Odoro confirmed the incident, promised comprehensive
investigation and assured that justice would be done in the matter.
The PPRO told Daily Trust correspondent that the corpse of Lateefat
has been deposited at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital,
(LTH) in Osogbo, the state capital for autopsy.
