He was abducted on Friday, at Mafoni Mosque in Maiduguri.
A former Federal minister for Air Force and internal affair (1965-66), federal commissioner for trade and industries (1967-71), minister of mines and power, petroleum and energy (1972-75), Monguno has been a consistent critic of the Joint Task Force (JTF) and the federal government.
Although details of the incident are still sketchy, the style of abduction can be likened to that of the late Retired General Muhammadu Shuwa. Shuwa killed on November 2, shortly before he left for the Mosque for Jumat prayers in Borno State.
