Barely four years after the Niger State Government dislodged
an Islamic sect Darrusalam from Bokani in the state, another Islamic
sect called ‘Kalo Kato’ are now in Uregi-Kongoma and Kwana- Mariga of
Rafi local government area of the state.
It was gathered
that the members of the sect were mostly foreigners from Niger Republic
but were invited by an Islamic scholar in Pandogeri in Rhe local
government area.
It was also gathered that the teachings of the
sect is different from the conventional and established Islamic
teachings based on the Quran and Hadith.
The members who sources
said, came to the area few days before the Ramadan do not believe in the
Hadith but only what is contained in the holy Quran.
In order not
cause apprehension among the people, the secretary of Kalgara Emirate
council Abdullahi Bala Kagara said, last week the emirate invited the
leaders of the sect to a meetıng with the security agencies.
He
said the emirate had sent learned Islamic scholars and leaders to
clarify issues with the sect members on their mode of preaching in order
not to cause any breach of security.
Accordıng to hım, “We are
monitoring them and we have also brought this to the notice of all the
security agencies. We have identified the leader of the sect as
Abdulkadir Suwaba who has been residing in Pandogeri area of the emirate
for years”.
