By Friday Boko Haram Leader, Shekau's Death Can Be Confirmed?

Boko Haram Leader, Ibrahim Shekau

Three days after the Joint Task Force (JTF) stated Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau might have been killed, there still has not been firm evidence provided to support the information, and the unknown whereabouts of the sect’s leader’s corpse gives room for doubts.
Such opinion was expressed by a counter terrorism analyst, Kehinde Alabi, during a Channels Television morning program today. He said that the most convincing evidence would be showing the corpse of Shekau, which has not yet happened.
Mr Alabi then said that although the death of the sect's leader would be a "good news to the whole nation", the analyst would only consider Shekau dead if he does not re-surface by Friday.

“By Friday I will proclaim him dead,” Mr Alabi said. “By Friday, if really he is dead, he would not
come on air to unleash all his statement of terrorism against Nigeria.”

The doubts of the analyst are mainly grounded on an unsuccessful counter-terrorism experience of the United States: Mr Alabi recalled a case where US proclaimed Osama Bin Laden dead after a gun battle in Afghanistan but ‘dead’ terrorist refuted the claims after posting a video message online.
It will be reminded, that JTF on Monday, August 19, stated that Shekau has possibly “died of gunshot wound received in an encounter with the JTF troops in one of their camps at Sambisa Forest on 30 June 2013”. Yesterday, a Security Consultant, Captain Umar Ali (Rtd) has disclosed the timeline used by JTF in concluding that the Boko Haram leader is killed.
