An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court in Ekiti State, yesterday, remanded one
Akintunde Omotehinde, 27, in prison custody for allegedly raping his
60-year-old mother.
Prosecutor Ebenezer Ewuola told the court that the accused committed the offence on August 23, in Ajebamidele Area of Ado-Ekiti.
He claimed that the accused ‘forcefully and unlawfully’ had carnal knowledge of his mother, which led to her being hospitalised.
He added that on the same date, the accused assaulted and inflicted
injuries on one, Isiaka Ojo, who attempted to separate him from his
mother during the act.
He said the offence contravened Section 358 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor said he had sent his case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, for
legal advice.
The accused plea was not taken.
The magistrate, Mrs Patricia Ajibade, ordered that the accused be
remanded in prison custody, pending the DPP’s legal advice and adjourned
the case till October 16.
