Another Boko Haram Camp Destroyed by Air Strike

The 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri reported troops from 5 Brigade of the Division carried out an air strike in Kafiya forest, in Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno state, where some members of the Boko Haram sect were known to have set up camp and were terrorising people in Felo, Gwaoi and Malagara villages of Gubio and Nganzai Local Governments.
Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, the spokesperson of the Division, informed on September 13, 2013, Friday that several terrorists were killed during the encounter with troops, and that the three villages were now free of insurgents.
Lt. Col. Musa also confirmed the operation was ongoing, adding that necessary measures are being taken to ensure innocent citizens are not affected in any Army operation in 7 Division area of operational
responsibility, which makes the use of air strike indispensable in the ongoing operation.
He also urged the members of the public in the villages and adjoining communities not to panic as the operation is intended to liberate them from the crises and challenges of Boko Haram’s insurgency ravaging their societies.
Lt. Col. Musa assured the Brigade would continue to periodically patrol the areas to ensure the insurgents do not return to terrorise the people.
It would be recalled that at least 50 suspected Boko Haram sect members were reportedly killed last week in an encounter with Military Troops of 5 Brigade of 7 Division, Nigerian Army.
