LAGOS PLANE CRASH: Burnt Corpses To Be Flown Abroad For DNA Analysis

The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on Saturday obtained specimens of Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) from relatives of victims burnt beyond recognition during the ill-fated Associated Airline crashed on Thursday in Lagos shortly after its take-off.
Thirteen of the passengers died in the crash, and their remains were deposited in the morgue at LASUTH on Thursday. Pathologists carried out autopsies on the dead victims on Friday.
A source in the hospital said that DNA swabs were taken today from relatives of the bodies that were burnt and as a result, could not be physically identified.
The bodies would now be flown abroad for the DNA analysis.
The source suggested that the process would take about three weeks to complete since it could not be
conducted anywhere in Nigeria due to lack of required facilities.
