The
ex-Governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa, and loyalists of the
Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and the All Progressives Congress
(APC) have been carefully schemed out of the new list of commissioners
put together by Governor Rochas Okorocha.
The
new list, which took political watchers by storm, mainly consists of
the old members of the dissolved State Executive Council.
Gov.
Okorocha named Chike Okafor, Uche Mbanaso, Gerry Okolie, Mrs. Ugochi
Nnanna-Okoro, Nick Oparandudu, Kenneth Emelu and his inlaw, Uche Nwosu
as his nominees.
Others
include Ifeanyi Nwachukwu, Professor Uba Nnabue, Mrs. Love Onyechere,
Uche Ejiogu, Charles Osundu Uche and Professor Okey Magnus Okoro.
It
would be mentioned that when Okorocha hosted the national leadership of
University of Ibadan in Government House, Owerri, he promised that
individuals from all parts of the country would be accommodated in the
new commissioners list.
Similarly,
the Governor emphatically declared at the Ahiajoku Convention Centre,
while doling out awards to
deserving members of the old cabinet that
“only those given the awards will be brought back to office but with
different portfolios”.
Several
APC members, who spoke on conditions of anonymity, wondered why none of
their loyalists was considered good enough for any slot.
“We
had honestly expected an all inclusive cabinet in line with our new
understanding. Our inclusion would have further cemented the bond that
ought to exist among members of APC”, the politician said.
It
was his considered opinion that “since about 15 persons have been
nominated, they have virtually taken up all the existing ministries and
one wonders what hope any other person may have in making the list”.
Further actions of CPC and former Action Congress of Nigeria loyalists are awaited in the face of the current realities.
