“Amaechi, Resign Now As Rivers State Governor”

The Chief Felix Obuah-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has warned members of the party not to follow Governor Rotimi Amaechi to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Some PDP members yesterday took to major roads in Port Harcourt, the state capital, to celebrate Amaechi’s defection to APC.

The rally began at the Rivers PDP Secretariat at N0. 23, Aba Road, with singing, drumming and dancing.
PDP members carried placards and banners with various inscriptions, such as: “PDP will continue to govern Rivers State”; “Amaechi, resign now as Rivers governor”; “Expect new APC soon”; “Amaechi, pack and go” and “We thank you rebel governors for leaving PDP”.

The PDP members caused a traffic gridlock on the Aba Road.

Speaking with reporters, Rivers PDP Secretary Chief Ibibia Walter said: “The party will not fail to wield the
big stick against any member found indulging in anti-party activities, as we remain resolute in our support for the President and leader our great party, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

“We urge the people of Rivers State to shun any act or ploy to hoodwink them into believing that Amaechi has anything to offer.

“The plan has always been to dent the image of the President before Nigerians, despite the fact that both of them come from the same geo-political zone. President Jonathan has done well.”
