WTH? FAAN also bought 4 armoured cars for Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah & MD
It would take more than six armoured cars to save Aviation minister, Stella Oduah now. On Wednesday, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Aviation, Hope Uzodinma, revealed that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had also bought two armoured vehicles for Oduah and another two for the Managing Director, George Uriesi.
The revelation comes at the helm of an investigation into the purchase of two armoured BMW cars for N255 million by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for Oduah.
Speaking to the press, Uzodinma said Uriesi told the committee that his agency purchased 202 operational cars and two bullet-proofs cars for the office of the managing director, NAN reports.
“Uriesi did confirm that among the operational vehicles they purchased, four of them are armoured vehicles, two for the managing director and two for the minister.
“We told them to go back and put everything in writing and make comprehensive statements on all vehicles
purchased.
“They bought a total number of 202 vehicles for different operations so until they come back on Monday we cannot rush into conclusion.
“The managing director of FAAN said they did a funding arrangement with a commercial bank,’’ he said.
According to reports, Uriesi also said Oduah gave approval for the purchase of the armoured vehicles, two Lexus Limousine cars costing N60million each and two Prado jeeps.
Following his socking revelations, Uriesi has been ordered to appear before the committee on November 4 while Oduah is still rumoured to be on “tactical suspension.”
