Former
President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that the All Progressives Congress
(APC) has taken the first step in the right direction towards making
Nigeria great again.
Obasajo stated this on Saturday when
he met with leaders and governors of the APC on Saturday evening at his
residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The meeting is said to be in
continuation of their consultations on political developments in the
country. The APC leaders including of the Interim National Chairman,
Chief Bisi Akande, its National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Imo
State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, Senator Bukola Saraki, Kwara State

described as a “high-powered meeting of an equally high powered
coalition of progressive forces,”

The first wife of the former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo has
broken it in spectacular style with a tell-all autobiography,
Bitter-Sweet: My Life with Obasanjo. The author paints a portrait of her
husband as a vindictive "master of decoy", a "violent and unrepentant wife-basher", and a man whose "womanising knows no bounds".
It couldn't come at a worse time for the 72-year-old Mr Obasanjo who
has been busily building a new profile for himself as a pan-African
statesman second only to Kofi Annan.
What ensues is an almost
slapstick riot of affairs and breathless high politics punctuated with
domestic violence and desperation. And it's one in which Mama Iyabo is
happy to name names. In the early 1970s her particular nemesis was an
older married woman called Mowo Sofowora. One evening, she recalls: "I
was eavesdropping on the phone downstairs while Obasanjo was in the
bedroom. They had spoken for about 30 minutes when she then said she was
having a headache. I had heard enough, so I butted in: 'It's that

The 330,000-member National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) said it would not endorse any party.
Trade unions and the Communist Party have been in a tri-partite alliance with the ANC since 1994.
But poor South Africans have become increasingly critical of the ANC.
They accuse it of corruption and not doing enough to tackle poverty.

But
despite all these qualifications, Obasanjo could not lead Nigeria out
of the doldrums. His tragic flaw was his decision to play God by not
allowing Nigerians to choose their leaders without undue interference.
He did this successfully but unceremoniously and ignominiously on two

Fellow Nigerians, I hope we have all realised that pestilence has
entered our land. What is going on at the moment is akin to what
happened towards the end of 1988 when Salman Rushdie wrote his
controversial novel, The Satanic Verses. By early 1989, the raging
inferno had engulfed everywhere and everyone was searching for any
available copy. I remember then as a Staff Writer at the Weekend
Concord, how we combed everywhere looking for this book that had caused
so much anger and anguish in the Islamic world such that a fatwa had to
be pronounced on the author. When our Editor, Mike Awoyinfa eventually
got hold of a copy, some of us had to photocopy the entire book as it
became pertinent to own and read a work everyone was talking about. It
brought home the reality that nothing sells like controversy.
When President Olusegun Obasanjo wrote his now controversial letter
to President Goodluck Jonathan, I

its ongoing nationwide strike action, until more concrete efforts are
made by the Federal Government to meet the association’s minimum

This was disclosed in a communique made available to newsmen in Abuja on Friday, signed by the NMA president, Osahon Enabulele.
The communique was issued after a National Executive Council (NEC) emergency meeting, which took place on Thursday, December 19.
According to reports:
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the
association’s members embarked on a five-day warning strike in public
health institutions on Wednesday, Dec. 18. The association had listed the issues of the strike as bordering
on some health sector challenges, workplace conditions and the
conditions of service of doctors.

An artificial heart has been transplanted into a patient for the first time in medical history, it was announced today.
French medics said that a male patient was awake and responding well

Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has described the massive
defection of prominent members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the
APC as the hurricane that will eventually dismantle the political
culture of graft, corruption and impunity in governance in Nigeria.
Reacting
to the defection of 37 PDP members of the House of Representatives to
the APC, the party said, "This is a unique situation which will resonate
throughout the country and cripple the forces of retrogression that
have been at the core of the country’s descent into a banana republic.”
A
statement signed by Osun APC’s director of publicity, research and

After firing several shots in his much-publicised letter to President
Goodluck Jonathan, it appears that Nigeria's former president, Chief
Olusegun Obasanjo, is not yet done. In his latest comments on the polity
and the 2015 presidential race posted on his Facebook page, Obasanjo
expressed fear over the possibility of the crisis-ridden Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) to make any meaningful impact in 2015.
Indicating that he has totally lost fate in the PDP as is being run
today in Abuja, Obasanjo declares: “It is now time to turn up the heat.
May the best party win.”
The PDP had been thrown into confusion, which had polarised the party at
national and state levels, leading to their governors and lawmakers
defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In order to rescue the party from its leadership and the presidency,
Obasanjo had written an 18-page letter

actor/model IK Ogbonna has paid a big price for being such a handsome
guy. Recently there was an allegation that his recent trip to the US was
to satisfy the sexual urge of his female customers as a gigolo and

Seven years ago, he was a nobody, he moved to
Lagos alone and had a very rough time. Sometimes he slept on the
street, for like three years or so, he slept in cars and today, he is

IK Ogbonna's fashion weakness is the fact that he
could be regarded as metrosexual in looks especially because he is not
confident in wearing clothes that’s not fitted. He feels lost in clothes
that are not cut to fit his body.
Apart from that he doesn’t

The police discovered a house in Umuahia, Abia state that housed a total of 19 pregnant women.
Their discovery revealed a baby factory with the women planning to sell their newborns.
Geoffrey Ogbonna, a police spokesman, said that the prime suspect
who’ location is currently unknown is the owner of the property and
suspected to be in the child trafficking ring.
PMNews reports:
Police “rescued 19 expectant mothers in different stages of pregnancy”, he said. Southeast Nigeria is grappling with a human trafficking epidemic,
with a series of black market maternity homes discovered in the last
year. In most cases, young women have run to such homes to avoid the stigma attached to pregnancies conceived outside of marriage. They take a portion of the money earned from selling the baby. There have also been reports of young women kidnapped and

With
such foreign policy stance, a viable economic base, an adept purposeful
political leadership and viable governance structure, Nigeria would
indeed be able to assert her indelible footprints once more across
Africa, effectively making her the undeniable giant of Africa.
On the global arena, there has been an unceasing battle for supremacy
between two super power – the US and China – both states trying to
strengthen their influences not only in economics but also in the field
of politics. This supremacy battle is also playing out in the African
continent, between the first and second largest economies – South Africa
and Nigeria respectively – are in a budding struggle for supremacy. The
most populous country in Africa and indeed the black race and the
fourth most populous within the continent, are undeniable hegemonic
powers in their respective sub-regions and both account for half of
sub-Saharan Africa’s economic might.
The relationship between both countries can be examined in four
parts: firstly, during the ‘independence boom’ sweeping through Africa
in the 1960s to the latter stages of the infamous apartheid epoch in
1993. This period saw Nigeria playing a prominent role in bringing to an
end apartheid rule not only in South Africa,
The crowd in the terminal is as thick as toothbrush bristles, total
strangers packed so tightly that they are literally breathing down each

The angst is audible, the edge in the voices of the listless crowd
approaches the distinctive din of an angry mob. You try to lift the mood
in your little square foot of space on the queue by chatting with the
traveller behind you, but because you have to crane your neck and raise
your voice to be heard, you conclude the effort is not worth the reward.
Then, as abruptly as it often does in Lagos, it starts to pour,
sending a surge of travellers and touts into the hall to further cramp
the conditions. The roar of the rain and the jostling of the soaking new
entrants tips the anger and it becomes a proper shouting match.
And then it hit you.
At first you think it is an inadvertent spray from someone who had
come in from the rain and you look around to find who and to ask them,
as politely as you can manage to “Puleeeease watch it”. But it does not
stop; instead it grows into a steady dribble that starts to soak your
hair and spatter on the flight ticket held in
The bid to win more political stakeholders over to the All
Progressives Congress (APC) continues today as leaders of the APC are
set to meet with former President, Olusegun Obasanjo today.
According to reports, this trend of event has caused panic and anxiety at the Presidential Villa.
The move is coming after Chief Obasanjo’s 18-page letter to President
Goodluck Jonathan and the continuous exodus of Peoples Democratic

Nigerian Eye reports:
Presidency officials, who said a formal response to

Other reasons women (and even sometimes men) gave for enjoying s*x

So what are the top three things women crave? The survey reveals that
the top three requirements for great s*x are physical attraction,

In this interview with JOHN ALECHENU,
a former governor of Anambra State, Chinwoke Mbadinuju, speaks about
the controversies which dodged his administration, godfathers and the
inability of the Peoples Democratic Party to form government in the
state since he left office.
It was speculated that you were going to be among the governorship aspirants in the last election in Anambra; what happened?
The main reason why I didn’t pick any
form and why I didn’t go into the contest is because already, most of
the PDP members in Anambra were my boys, I brought them up. Some of them
were my Special Advisers. Others were Special Assistants and Secretary
to the State Government or one thing or the other. If I had gone into
the contest with such people, the so-called godfathers will back them to
try to disgrace me and win the election at all costs. Then, you would
see money bags throwing their weight and money around and I might find
myself alone. If I lost, it won’t augur well for me and my supporters. I
consulted with my people although I had made up my mind under the
circumstances at that time. It was a personal decision; nobody forced me
to or not to. After four years in Awka and all the things that
followed, I felt I did enough in four
It is no ordinary crime. Incest, a
distant word to many, claims its victims body and soul and shatters
every sense of normalcy a child who grows up to experience such act is
supposed to have. Such is the life of Bola and Tolu, who endured a
sexual abuse by their father for two years. But for Susan, who had two
children for her father, it is a different kettle of fish as a result of
the identity problem her children will have to contend with. KUNLE FALAYI reports:
Sexual abuse is one of the greatest
crimes that could be committed against a child. The United Nations
Convention on Rights of Child and Nigeria’s Child Rights Act give
prominence to the protection of a child in the society as a result of
this and specifically make case for the importance of the “primary care
giver” which is the child’s immediate family.
But for many children, they are
captives in their own family as they are constantly sexually assaulted
by their own fathers. For such children, the scar the act leaves in
their lives will not likely be erased anytime soon.
