Daughter organizes wedding in 24 hours so that her dying mother could attend (PICTURED)
An American woman in Connecticut planned and executed a whole wedding in just 24 hours just so her ailing mother could attend. Aly Femia married her fiance, Anthony at the Yale New Haven Hospital where her mother, Mary Quinn was hospitalized.
Ms. Quinn was diagnosed with lung cancer which eventually spread to her brain forcing Aly to move her nuptials forward.
NY Daily reports:
Initially, the Greenwich, Connecticut native wanted to marry childhood sweetheart Anthony in September 2015.
But after hearing her mother Mary Quinn was suffering from lung cancer and it had spread to the brain, the couple – who went to Greenwich High School but met at Manhattanville College in Purchase, N.Y., – decided to bring it forward.
And just hours later on Jan. 29 she got married, after being walked down the hallway aisle by her step dad, in front of her mom.
“The hospital was INCREDIBLE! They made my wedding possible,” Femia told BuzzFeed.
“My favorite part of the day was having my mom see me in my wedding dress wearing a string of her pearls, and seeing her smile,” she added.
She revealed that her dad had died 16 years ago, it was “even more important” to have one of her parents there.
