Mba Ikechukwu, a 100 hundred
level student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH),
Ogbomoso was on Tuesday killed by cultists.
Mba
who was in the Department of Transport Management of the University was
learnt to have been shot to death, his arms cut off and his body
mutilated by cultists who stormed his room on Tuesday evening.
The
Police has however deposited his body in the mortuary. The University
management has said they have met with the security agencies on
Wednesday so that the culprits can be arrested.
Student
held a peaceful rally on campus to mourn the late Mba. While the
university’s management said that activities are going on smoothly and
security in the hostels have been tightened since the incident.
The
Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Tunde Olabiyisi, however denied rumours
that the institution had been closed for two days to ease the tension
which resulted from the death of the student saying “You can see for
yourself that the campus is peaceful and students are receiving
lectures. There is no disruption whatsoever. Everywhere is peaceful. The
incident happened outside the campus and appropriate actions are being
