‘No Vacancy in Aso Rock, elections already concluded in favour of Jonathan’

ABUJA- AHEAD of 2015 Presidential election, a group under the aegis, the Nigeria Mandate 2015 yesterday urged the northern part of the country to beam its searchlight for a credible young presidential candidate for 2019, saying there was no vacancy in Aso rock for 2015.
Addresing Journalists yesterday, National President, Nigeria Mandate 2015, one good term deserves another, Dr. Ojona Okongor Eno who boasted that President Goodluck Jonathan will contest for 2015 because of his achievements, however urged the north to support him in the realisation of his ambition and search for a very young personality of forty to forty- five years from the north as Jonathan’s successor come 2019.
According to him, the north must save its energy for 2019 and not seek for the ouster of President Goodluck Jonathan, even as he stressed that 2015 presidential election was already concluded in favour of Jonathan with the help of God as he would be returned by Nigerian electorates.
Ojona Okongor who explained that the group worked in 2011 for the election of President Jonathan, said it
was already drumming support for his candidacy in next year’s election, adding, “For 2015, we will advise that the Presidential Viilla is not vacant and there is no need people worrying themselves over spilt milk, there is no vacancy for the position until President Jonathan completes his second term by 2019. It is matter of just four years and he will be through with his second term and after Jonathan, the next president of the country can come from the north or elsewhere.
The group’s president who noted that the dynamics of modern technology make it imperative for the country to seek for a young person who understands clearly this evolving changes are is ready to utilize it to our advantage, said, “As we speak today, we are already conducting a search for a credible candidate of the northern extraction for the 2019 presidential election. Henceforth we must insist that no aspiring Nigerian president shall be above the age bracket of 40 and 45 years.
“We need someone who can understands the needs of teaming youths of the country and can align the programmes of government to suit such needs . You know President Obama is succeeding today in America and the same goes for
British Prime Minster because age is on their side and they have enough strength to withstand the rigours of office.”
According to him, judging by Jonathan’s achievements and the growing number of organizations and bodies asking him to go for a second term, it will not be out of place to say that he was as good as having won the contest, adding that many Nigerians have seen the reason to support Jonathan because for him, there have been some elements of economic stability.
Commending the Federal Government’s wisdom in proposing to hold a national conference , the group noted that the initiative will help to rebuild the country and the outcome should go to the national assembly for endorsement which must not be tampered with by the lawmakers.
He said, “We are a body of persons working to make sure that there is good governance right from the local government council to the federal level. Since 2001 we have been able to propel leaders from various states of the country.
“We were also at the forefront the campaign to elect President GoodLuck Jonathan in 2011 and we also want to express our support for him to contest for a second term in 2015 presidential election based on the fact that he has performed creditably. What his has done in the last two and half years speaks for itself, especially in the power sector which has witnessed significant improvement.”
