Speculations that federal lawmaker, Abike Dabiri-Erewa might be a popular choice as next governor of Lagos is fast turning into reality. Sources hinted that some politicians and eminent personalities believe that Abike Dabiri should succeed Fashola as governor.
The House of Reps member have not formally confirmed or denied whether or not she would be vying for the position of Lagos state governor.
Abike rising profile in the Nigerian political arena was not in doubt but what we don’t know yet is whether or not Action Congress Party (ACP)party leaders led by Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu would allow her run.The former broadcaster with Nigeria Television Authority is said not to be losing sleep over what the outcome of the party leadership might be.
However, a political observer told us that there is no problem allowing her run because people will support her.However, based on the known fact that ACP would not want to take the risk of fielding a woman for
governorship, there is likelihood that Tinubu might favour her for the deputy governorship slot.
Wife of the traditional ruler of Ikorodu, Muyibat Oyefusi has joined the list of those who believe in Abike Dabiri-Erewa’s ability to govern Lagos state. She reportedly told those present when the lawmaker came to distribute various empowerment items in Ikorodu that she would deliver if she is given higher political office just the way she has been doing in the house of reps.
Most people believe that the royal support from Oyefusi is enough to tell the world that Abike would definitely be taking the bold step.
