Abducted Girls: Number Of Rescued Victims Increases To 20

Hon. Musa Inuwa Kubo, Borno State Commissioner for Education, on Thursday night confirmed that the number of girls that escaped from Boko Haram captivity have risen to 20.

Kubo, who spoke to newsmen on telephone said he was calling from the attacked Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Chibok.
He said some of the girls showed up after escaping from their captors between Monday and Tuesday.
"We have recovered about 20 girls now and they are with us. After they escaped, the girls went to village heads that live close to where they found themselves and the local leaders brought them to us" he said.
Kubo said he was with the school principal, some stakeholders of Chibok community, and the parents of the abducted girls.
Kubo, who was a former Speaker of Borno state House of Assembly, said they were inside the attacked school waiting to see if the military would bring forth any of the rescued girls as claimed.
"I am here (in Chibok) with the parents and we are waiting to receive the recovered girls. Honestly we are
not disputing what the military said because it bothers on security. The soldiers know better but we are yet to see the girls. We are hoping that they would be reunited with their families soon" he said.
Meanwhile, on the first night of the attack four of the abducted girls managed to escape on their own; ten others followed on the second day and made it back to town; while two others were found wandering in the bush by soldiers on patrol. Another four were brought back to the school premises yesterday by local chief, whose house the girls fled to take refuge after escaping.
