Gunmen hijack school bus in Nyanya, Abuja (UPDATES)


According to unconfirmed reports, a school bus has just been hijacked along the Nyanya area of Abuja.
The community, which is still reeling from two bomb blasts, is dealing with the latest incident as gunmen were said to have invaded the Divine Kiddies Academy and taken away the bus.
It has however been said that there was no student left on the bus as they had all gotten off before the invasion.
Parents of students in the school are said to have trooped to the premises to take their children home.
Details of the occurrence are still sketchy and we will bring updates as they come in.
Updates 11.01 am:
The news which was recently reported about the hijack of a school bus in Nyanya, Abuja has been confirmed by the principal of the school in question.
The principal of Vine International Academy in Nyanya, Fola Kolade spoke to YNaija 2015 about the
incident.
She said:
“They tried to enter the school but they couldn’t. No children were taken but they took our school bus”.
More details will be revealed as they emerge.

I am at Nyanya. The news of the Ave Maria girls bus hijack is true. Four Buses filled with girls. Schools have close at Nyanya.
Serious panic. People are withdrawing their kids from school.

Updates 12.08 pm:
Multiple sources within and around the Vine International Academy school told SaharaReporters that the gunmen launched the attack few minutes before 8 am.
No pupil or member of staff was hurt, but the gunmen snatched the school bus.
“We do not know if they are members of Boko Haram or if they are robbers”, an official of the school said.
“The sad thing is that parents do not want to know if it’s Boko Haram or not. Many of them are coming to take away their children out of panic”.
Nyanya was the target of two bomb attacks that left hundreds dead and scores injured last month, and residents of the area are now living in fear of further attacks.
