MAIDUGURI – Multiple explosions and sporadic gunshots ,yesterday, rocked
London Ciki and Mairi general areas behind University of Maiduguri
(UNIMAID) and University Teaching Hospital (UMTH), in Maiduguri, the
Borno state capital.
Although details on the attack and the
number of casualties are stll sketchy, but sources said, “the Improvised
Explosive Devices (IEDs) where detonated by suspected Boko Haram
terrorists when invading the city at about 11pm on Friday, but they were
however repelled by security operatives which led to the exchange of
gunfire.”

Our Correspondent gathered that the gunmen who
came in through Kaleri village, a suburb of Maiduguri,
splited into two
groups, with one of the groups storming London Ciki area while the other
attacked the city near the University of Maiduguri. But Vanguard
gathered that the terrorists were repelled by the military.
The explosions and exchange of gunfire caused serious pandemonium among residents, particularly students of the University.
