BUSTED: School administrator arrested for raping 11 pupils
A middle-aged man in Edo has been arrested and arraigned after reports that he sexually assaulted 11 young students.
47-year-old Rotimi Olayebi Edwards is said to have raped the pupils who attend a school owned by his mother and where he is an administrator.
The suspected was charged with 3 counts and ordered to be remanded in prison by a Magistrate court sitting in the Egor area of the state.
The Nation reports:
Magistrate Igho Braimoh deferred bail hearing till a later date. The case was adjourned till May 26 for hearing. The suspect was caught after a close monitoring of his activities.
Neighbours were said to have been suspicious of why some female pupils remain in school till five and six pm daily. The neighbours, sources said, reported to some parents, who questioned their daughters on what they were doing late in school.
The girls were said to have opened up on the alleged sexual escapades of the suspect. The parents reported to the Child Protection Network (CPN), a non governmental organisation (NGO), renowned for ensuring that rape victims get justice.
Parents and members of the NGO, led by its coordinator, Jennifer Ero, marched on the school, demanding justice.
Irked by the proprietor’s attitude, the protesters broke into the school and chased pupils away. A visit to the school yesterday showed that academic activities were yet to begin.
