MIRACLE: Baby Knocked Off Mother's Arms Survives Kano Bomb Explosion (PHOTO)
An explosion that rocked the Sabon Gari area of Kano on May 18 knocked a six and half months old baby, Master Chigozie Nnorom, off his mother’s arms. The baby landed several meters away from his mother with deep cut by the lower region of his stomach.
Bombs loaded in a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) went off at a popular area inhabited mostly by Christians, with a lot of bars and restaurants, killing about five people and injuring many others.
According to eyewitnesses, when the baby was thrown away from his mother by the impact of the explosion, he landed in front of their residence at No. 1 Middle Road, Sabon Gari, Kano. As the baby was motionless, his mother who was seriously injured began screaming about his death. Fortunately, the baby survived though was badly injured.
The mother, Mrs. Joy Nnorim, and the baby were rushed to a hospital along No-man’s-land, Sabon Gari, Kano.
According to the mother who had multiple cuts on her hands, eyes and even stomach, she recovered her baby from a neighbour later.
Mrs. Nnorom stated that she was standing in front of their compound enjoying fresh air when the blast
occurred and her baby flew off her arms and she landed in another direction.
The neighbour who took the baby to the hospital, Mrs. Sandra Iyke Ibeabuchi, stated that at first the baby was motionless but after shaking him for a while he began crying. "At the hospital I noticed that his pampers was unusually wet and when I tried to remove it, I discovered a deep cut by the lower region of his stomach," she recalled.

At hospital along Emir Road, another survivor of the blast, Mr. Kelvin Onah, who has stitches which stretched from his mouth to the cheek, stated that he was at his tavern situated at 1 Middle Road when the bomb exploded and hit him.
Meanwhile, indications have emerged that the death toll of the blast may be slightly far more than what was confirmed by security officials.
