TRAGIC: Bride killed, groom injured in car crash on the way to their wedding (PICTURED)
A wedding at Alabama’s Spring Hill Baptist Church turned into a funeral as the bride was laid to rest a day before she was supposed to be married to the love of her life.
25-year-old Brittany Huber, was killed in a car crash on Monday while she was driving with her fiancé, John Redman, on the way to their wedding.
According to reports, Huber and Redman were traveling from their Georgia home to their hometown of Mobile for the big day when Redman, the driver, lost control of his Lexus and slammed into a concrete wall during a rainstorm.
Daily News reports:
Redman, an assistant basketball coach at Dalton State University, suffered head trauma and broken bones. He was taken to an Atlanta hospital. Huber was killed instantly.
Redman, 23, was driving too fast, Georgia State Patrol spokesman Tracey Watson told the Dalton Daily Citizen.
A witness to the crash freed couple’s dog, Paige, from the wreckage. She joined the couple’s hands and prayed over them.
“This couple was truly meant for each other,” Lori Huber, the bride’s stepmother, told the
newspaper.
The pair met few years ago when Redman coached Huber’s brother on Spring Hill College’s basketball team. They had been engaged since June. When Redman landed the job coaching for Dalton State last year, Huber followed him to Georgia.
Huber was a kindergarten teacher’s assistant and wanted to become an art teacher.
Family and friends said the young couple was excited to finally be husband and wife. On Monday, Huber tweeted “It is finally wedding week!”
