Brazil coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari resigns

Felipe Scolari

Head coach of Brazil, Luiz Felipe Scolari has reportedly resigned following Brazil’s poor outing and subsequent failure to win the 2014 world cup trophy.
According to Globo TV, Scolari’s contract was due to expire after the tournament, and his resignation is expected to be confirmed on Monday by the CBF, Brazil’s football confederation.
Scolari won the tournament with Brazil in 2002 after beating Germany 2-0 in the final in Yokohama, Japan, but a repeat was not to be the case this time around as his team was comprehensively beaten 7-1 by Germany in the semi-final, their joint-heaviest loss ever and first home competitive defeat for 39 years.
The tournament ended in despair for them as they also failed to beat the Netherlands in the third place play-off as they fell 3-0 to the Oranje boys.
