Kano seeks death sentence for 14-year-old child bride

Kano State Government has charged 14-year-old bride, Wasila Tasiu who allegedly killed her husband and three other persons in their home in April.
According to the young suspect, she was forcefully married to her  husband and the only way she could be free was to poison him. Three other people died after eating poisoned food with her husband.
Wasila who has pleaded for forgiveness has however been charged with culpable homicide punishable by death.
The suit which was filed by the state government is slated for hearing on August 4 at Kano State High Court.
The Chairperson, Kano State chapter of the Federation of Women Lawyers, Hajiya Hussaina Aliyu, who has since shown interest in the case, confirmed the receipt of the legal documents, stating that competent hands have been assigned to handle the case.
We shall be waiting to see how the pendulum swings on this case.
