Following the outbreak of Ebola virus in West Africa, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has banned delegates from Ebola-hit countries from attending the ongoing church’s National Convention.
P.M NEWS reports that the pastor, popularly called ‘Daddy G.O’ by his congregation, took the decision to prevent the spread of Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, in Nigeria.
It was gathered that some officials of the Federal and Lagos State governments met with the RCCG leader few days ago to adopt precautionary measures that would prevent people from the infected countries such as Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, not to come to the church’s convention, which usually attracts thousands of participants.
It was discovered at the ongoing RCCG convention that no delegate from the Ebola-infected countries
showed up.
Speaking at the church’s ministers ‘conference, Adeboye told the pastors that all those who fasted during the 100 days fasting period observed by members of the church should have no fear of Ebola, as the disease would not get to them.
Adeboye also warned his pastors to avoid laying hands on
anybody they suspected have full blown Ebola as they might contract the
disease.
It would be recalled that at the convention on Monday,
Adeboye charged his members to embrace the habit of cleanliness, praying
that the disease would not become an outbreak in Nigeria.
According to the latest statement from the World Health Organisation, WHO, the Ebola virus has killed no fewer than 932 people in West Africa since February 2014.Nigeria is said to have recorded three cases of the deadly disease since a Liberian man, Patrick Sawyer, allegedly brought it to Lagos and later died as a result of it in Nigeria.
