Gunmen Kill 50 People, Burn Houses In Kaduna Villages

 

Gunmen have reportedly killed about 50 people in an attack launched on three Fadan-Karshi villages of Sanga Local Government of Kaduna State.
According to the Nation, a pastor, four pregnant women, children and a soldier were among those who were killed in those attacks. It was gathered that two other soldiers were seriously injured and presently receiving treatment at the Gwantu General Hospital among hundreds of other residents.
This attack on Sanga villages isn’t the first one. Since April this year, there were series of attacks that had rocked the area, which according to sources had led to the killing of over 300 people, mostly women and children.
According to a resident, Mike Sanga, the attackers invaded Fadan Karshi Daji and nearby communities, burn houses and a church.
“In our counting, 12 people were killed in Fadan Karshi, 30 in Fada Karshi Daji seven others in another community. A pastor and another person were also killed at Ungwar Ganye,” Mike Sanga said.
Speaking on the matter,Vice Chairman of the Council, Pastor Bulus Mandey Anzah, stated that pregnant
women, elderly and children were killed while hundreds of resident have flee their homes to unknown directions.
Pastor Anzah said there were temporary camps set-up for some of the displace and called on the emergency agencies to support them. Many of the injured are now receiving treatment at the Gwantu General hospital.
“The attacks are getting worse everyday. Some of the soldiers who attempted to repeal the attack were also injured. Another soldier was killed,” Anzah added.
An official of Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), who didn’t want his name mentioned because he was not authorised to speak with press, confirmed that over fifty people were killed, houses and the church were burnt to ashes in the attack.  He put the Internally Displaced Persons figure at over 10,000.
Meanwhile, Fulani herdsmen on September 14, 2014, reportedly attacked Tunari village in Wukari Local Government of Taraba State, killing no fewer than twenty persons and injuring scores of others.
However, Sanga local government has always experience seasonal crisis emanating from grazing land for Fulani herdsmen and the farmers. The last conflict which occurred on August 7, 2014, in Gimi Dogara village claimed the lives of four people while 15 houses burnt. Fulani herdsmen were reported to have carried out the attack.
The tension in the northern part of the country has continued to increase following the activities of the terrorist group, Boko Haram. Two weeks ago, one  Justice Hajara Gwadah of the Kaduna State high court and her son, Saminu Gwadah, were reported shot by a Nigerian soldier, at the junction of Ali Akilu and Alkali roads by SCOA, in Kaduna metropolis.
However, following the violence that usually erupt from communal clashes in Sanga communities, Shehu Garba Sarkin-Noma, a House of Representatives member representing Jema’a/Sanga federal constituency in a reaction called on the the Federal Government to quickly intervene and stop further massacre.
