“He treats me like a slave” || “She sleeps around” – Couple beg court to end their marriage
Ayo Bamisaye, a housewife, is seeking dissolution of her 10-year-old marriage, citing the incessant extra marital affair of her husband.
She filed a suit on 6 September, asking the court to end her marriage with Mr Goke Bamisaye on the grounds of adultery, brutality and lack of care for her and her only child.
While appearing before the court on Wednesday, 24 September, she alleged that her husband had repeatedly engaged in extra marital affairs with other women, stated that he spends his savings on his lovers, and thereby failed in his domestic responsibility.
She said, “He punches me at any slightest mistake and treated me and my child as if we were slaves.” The plaintiff also asked the court to compel her husband to pay
Meanwhile, the husband, Bamisaye, while responding to the allegations, said her claims were untrue, saying
that his wife was a woman of easy virtue. He said any man could easily sleep with her anywhere, any time and any day.
Like his wife, the defendant also asked for the marriage to be dissolved, but stated that he could only afford N2,000 food allowance, saying he had two other wives to cater for.
The case was adjourned to 6 October for judgement.
