“If you’re such a good friend why did you poke my girlfriend?” - This man got killed over a Facebook ‘poke

Rovetto

A 27-year-old man from Nottingham, Scott Humphrey, has been jailed for four years, for killing his buddy, Richard Rovetto, because he ‘poked’ his girlfriend on Facebook.
Poke’ on social network, Facebook, is regarded as a friendly nudge or subliminal display of affection, to some, a subtle flirt.
The Prosecutor, Gareth Gimson, revealed to the court that Rovetto was killed during a row in a cab on the way back from a bachelor party. The pair were locked in a heated argument over the ‘poke’ row as they alighted the Taxi in Top Valley, Nottingham
According to the Taxi driver, “Scott Humphrey was accusing Richard Rovetto of contacting his girlfriend in the past and doing so via Facebook. Scott Humphrey said to Richard Rovetto, “If you’re such a good friend then why did you poke my missus?” Richard Rovetto said he didn’t know it was his girlfriend. The exchange became more heated.”
He said Humphrey struck 29-year-old Mr Rovetto, causing him to bleed from the nose, and then, knocked
him to floor, causing him to bang his head on the pavement.
Rovetto suffered severe head injuries and died in hospital hours later. Humphrey initially fled the scene, but would later turn himself in.
