Kano Government Indicts Boys College For Students’ Sexual Abuse
A panel set up by the Kano State Government to investigate allegations of sodomy among students and teachers at the Hassan Gwarzo College has found the school culpable in the offence.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the weekly Kano Executive Council meeting on Friday, the State Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, said the panel has submitted its report and the school was found culpable.
He said the government, based on this report, had already directed the continued closure of the college pending the outcome of security reports.
The government has also directed all final year students to be transferred to other schools to enable them carry out their final secondary school exams.
Mr. Garba assured that serious measures would be taken against anybody found wanting after the release of the State Security Service and police investigative reports.
Already, the parents of one of the victims said they were happy with the outcome of the panel.
He said they will like to see those involved punished and compensations paid to all those hurt.
