Between Singer Neyo & His Ex (Ladies Come And Read)

Ne-Yo and new wife Crystal are basking in the joy of the safe arrival of son Prince Shaffer Chimere Smith Jr. But as they bond with their three-week-old, the R&B star's ex-fiancee Monyetta Shaw is revealing her regret at getting her tubes tied.

The Atlanta Exes reality star told the New York Post she only agreed to undergo the operation after her fiance said he too would be sterilized, following the birth of their second child.

'Sterilization was something Ne-Yo and I discussed thoroughly in the months leading up to the baby’s
delivery,' she told the paper, explaining that with a son and daughter their family felt complete.

'Ne-Yo also agreed to undergo a vasectomy to show our mutual commitment to the relationship.'

Ne-Yo and Monyetta are parents to Mason, four, and five-year-old Madilyn, and had decided they did not want any more children.

She recalls: 'Before the doctors finished up in the delivery room, I told them: “I want you to burn my fallopian tubes.'

It was a joint decision, and Ne-Yo, 36: 'was right by my side, holding my hand the entire time. The doctor must have asked us eight times if this was what we wanted. Each time, we both replied yes.'

The 35-year-old reveals that she never asked Ne-Yo if he had kept his side of the bargain.

'I was so busy caring for two young children, I just assumed Ne-Yo had followed through and had gotten the vasectomy,' she recalls. 'I trusted him so much that it never even crossed my mind that he hadn’t gone through with it.'

In June 2013, two months before the couple's wedding, Ne-Yo ended the relationship, leaving Monyetta 'hurt and distraught'.

And, the reality star insists, knowing that unlike her ex she will not be able to have any more children adds to her pain.

'If I find another man to love, I may not be able to start a family with him,' says Monyetta, who has written a book - Bigger Than Me - about her life.

'I’m too scared to go to a doctor to find out if there’s anything they can do about it. Because I do want to get married someday, and if my future husband does not have kids, I will want to have his children.'
