Online Dating Danger: Woman Narrates Her Experience

A woman has spoken out about her horrifying rape ordeal after she was attacked on an online date. Anna, whose name was changed to protect her identity from her attacker, appeared on Good Morning Britain to highlight the dangers of online dating after she was attacked after being pressured to go back to her date's house.

"He was shouting, he was swearing at me, he hit me, he pulled my hair, he tried to strangle me, I thought he was going to kill me, I thought well this is it, this is the end," she said on the show before
she went on to talk about what she's had to do to cope with the trauma.

"I've moved, I live in a completely different county and I still think I see him on the street. I still see a guy with his hair colour and his hair style and I still think it's him."

She added: "We had been talking online for a couple of days, he was really nice, he was really charming, he was really funny and he asked me to go for a drink with him.

"I did, and I went for a drink with him and he asked me to go back to his to watch a movie. It was out of my comfort zone, and I said 'no, I'm sorry, I'm not happy with that'.

"It was like he was pushing me and eventually I thought maybe he just did want to watch a movie. So I went back to his to watch a movie.

"It wasn't until we got there that I realised it was just going to be us two and suddenly I was alone with him and that was when it all happened."

Anna added that she didn't think all men on dating sites were potential rapists but she does want women to do everything they can to protect themselves.

"I don't think that everyone that's on a dating site is like that, and there are some real genuine people out there. I think I was just unfortunate that I didn't get the nice character."

She added: "I regret not following my gut instinct. He knew that he wanted me, and he knew that he wanted me alone."
