The first transgender woman to be a speaker at a national political
convention took to the stage in Philadelphia where she told the touching
story of losing her husband and how it pushed her to want to expedite
change.
Sarah McBride, a 25-year-old trans woman and former White House intern, told the crowd: 'Knowing Andy left me profoundly changed, but more than anything else his passing taught me that everyday matters when it comes to building a world where every person can live their life to the fullest.'
McBride was introduced by Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, D-N.Y., an openly gay congressman who talked lovingly about his husband, before handing the floor to the trans activist.
