10 Killed In Russia Metro Blast


Ten people have been killed and more than 50 injured in an explosion that hit St Petersburg's metro system.

The blast in St Peterburg's happened in a train in between two stations, a source in Russia's emergency services. "There was one blast in one site in between (stations) as the train arrived at the Technology Institute station from Sennaya (Ploshchad) station," the source said.

Russian media reported earlier that there were two blasts. Ten people have been killed in the incident,
authorities said. Reports say that there have been up to 50 people injured. All St Petersburg metro stations have been closed, according to local officials.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his condolences for the victims of the metro explosions in St Petersburg and is talking to the Russian Federal Security Service about the investigation, according to state media.

He said the reasons for the explosion are "unknown".
