Once again, flights have been suspended at a UK airport after a suspected drone sighting.
A Heathrow airport spokesman confirmed that all planes were grounded following a drone sighting at Heathrow airport. The Metropolitan Police confirmed officers are investigating reports of a drone sighting near the runway.
A Heathrow Airport spokesperson said:
We are responding to a drone sighting at Heathrow and are working closely with the Met Police to prevent any threat to operational safety. As a precautionary measure, we have stopped departures while we investigate. We apologise to passengers for any inconvenience this may cause.
Scotland Yard said they received reports of a drone in the vicinity of Heathrow Airport just after 5pm.
The force said:
As a precautionary measure, Heathrow Airport has stopped departures and officers based at Heathrow are currently investigating the reports with colleagues from Heathrow Airport.
 Stranded passengers have taken to Twitter to vent. 
The fresh chaos comes just weeks after drone sightings at Gatwick grounded planes for several days over the Christmas period.
