DISAPPOINTMENT: Robbers Attack Bank Bullion Van, Snatch Ghana-Must-Go Bags Filled With Papers

The Police in Ondo State say the bags snatched by a gang of robbers from an Ecobank van on Wednesday contained processed bank vouchers and not cash as thought by the robbers.
The robbery, which occurred about 2pm on Wednesday, sent shivers across other banks, whose workers  immediately locked their doors against customers fearing possible attacks by the robbers.
Eyewitnesses had told reporters that the robbers had snatched the bags, popularly called Ghana-must-go, supposedly containing huge sums of money from a customer who had gone to withdraw cash from the bank.
But Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Wole Ogodo, clarified that the bank had officially reported the facts of the matter to the police, saying the robbers actually carted away a bunch of papers.
He said, “On the November 6, 2013 at 1800hrs, Oke Oludare, the Operational Manager of the Ecobank,  reported a police station that some hoodlums numbering about three  trailed their vehicle and double crossed
it at the front of the bank and snatched three Ghana-must-go bags containing processed vouchers thinking it was money and zoomed off.”
Ogodo said the robbers were being closely followed and would soon be arrested and brought to book.
