Violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, has attacked a Borno town, slitting throats of residents moment after they engaged policemen in a gun duel on Wednesday.
Though, details of the casualties of the attack were sketchy as of the time of filing this report on Thursday but the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Lawan Tanko, told journalists that the terrorists killed a policeman and injured several residents.
It was gathered that an unspecified number of residents were killed by the sect members, who carried out an house-to-house raid, slitting throats of residents in the siege that took over an hour in the earlier hours of Wednesday.
The insurgents were said to have attacked Banki, a border town with Cameroon, in the troubled Bama Local Government of Borno State.
This latest attack was not the first on the town. The community has become vulnerable with the sacking of security agencies in the town.

Residents told journalists in Maiduguri on Thursday that the attackers rode on motorcycles and Hilux Toyota vehicles into the town from nearby bushes, armed with sophisticated weapons.
They were said to have attacked and sacked the police station in order to take control of the town.
One John Samuel, a survivor, who spoke to journalists in Maiduguri, said, “They drove from the neighboring bush, using motorcycles and carrying sophisticated weapons around 2am.”
