Yesterday's emergency meeting held by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja ended in deadlock.
The politicians tried to resolve the current crisis rocking the party and the issue of the the party's National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, potential resignation.
Vice President,
Namadi Sambo, told the State House correspondents at the end of the meeting said that the PDP did not arrive at any conclusion.
He added that the meeting will resume tomorrow, January 15, at 6 p.m.
The meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan, started around 8.15 p.m. on Tuesday (January 14).
President
Jonathan and Senate President, David Mark, led all NWC members out of
the venue to meet
inside a smaller hall around 10:15pm.
Those in
attendance at the meeting include Vice President, Namadi Sambo; Deputy
Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu; Speaker of the House of
Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal; Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha; House
Leader, Mulikat Akande; Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba; Akwa Ibom
State Governor, Godswill Akpabio; Kaduna State Governor, Ibrahim Shema;
and Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Tony Anenih.
Also
in attendance were a former PDP National Chairman, Ahmadu Ali; Deputy
National Chairman, Uche Secondus; National Women Leader, Kema Chikwe;
former Deputy Chairman, Bode George; BoT Secretary, Walid Jubril;
Minister of Transport, Idris Umar; Minister of Justice, Bello Adoke; and
Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
It will be recalled, that Jonathan
asked Tukur to resign on January 13. This request followed the
agitations for Tukur's removal.
According to Premium Times, during the meeting Tukur was trying to convince the party not to sack him.

Earlier, Tukur
said he would not quit his office as he did nothing wrong.
He has also sought support of Godswill
Akpabio, Akwa Ibom governor, and Jonah Jang, Plateau governors in
keeping his position as they are said to have close ties with Jonathan.
