NOMINATION FORM: Tafawa Balewa's Son Set To Drag PDP To Court

Dr Abdul Jelil, the son of Nigeria’s First Republic Prime Minister, the late Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa has vowed to drag the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to court for being denied the Presidential form.

According to Vanguard, the Presidential aspirant, Dr. Abdul-Jhalil Tafawa-Balewa who has vowed to the take the case to court to seek redress made this known while addressing Journalists yesterday in Abuja.
Dr. Abdul-Jhalil Tafawa-Balewa who has stated he will do everything within the law to ensure he contests in the forthcoming elections said:
“ It is most unfortunate that PDP which is the largest political party in Africa had to descend so low to deny one the right to vote or be voted for. I went to PDP secretariat to pick forms and they decided to run in a circle. I saw the Treasurer, the Financial Secretary, I want that ticket because I know I have a lot to offer Nigeria. My team is ready to work immediately.
“I will not leave this party, I will do everything that is in the constitution, I have started the process of
ensuring that I get justice; I will send a petition to the national Secretariat. 
 Meanwhile recall recently, that Dr. Abdul-Jhalil Tafawa-Balewa described President Jonathan’s adoption as consensus candidate of the PDP as shameful and unconstitutional.
He said: The decision acted against the general interest of party men and women”. We used to blame APC for not having internal democracy but we that have it, if you look at the people who gave the consensus; they have loads of baggage behind them.” Balewa said.
It was reported on October 28, that two PDP aspirants, Dr. Abdul-Jhalil Tafawa-Balewa and Prof. Akasoba Duke-Abiola who had already paid the sum of N24million for the party’s presidential nomination and forms had gone to the national secretariat to purchase the form only for them to be turned back.
On September 18, it was reported that the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) endorsed Jonathan as its sole candidate for 2015 presidential elections.

The party had also said after the endorsement that all law abiding members of the party must adhere strictly to the decision of PDP by not picking presidential nomination forms to kick against the decision of the organs of the party.
