Tributes to those killed September 11, 2001 began at 8:46 a.m.
Wednesday, the hour at which a hijacked plane struck the north tower of
the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan. President Obama, Vice
President Biden and their wives all observed a moment of silence at the
White House in honor of the dead. Across the country, Americans joined
in the remembrance and commemorated the 12th anniversary of the attacks
